Stop Motion
It was my first time working on a stop motion shot. I didn’t know any Stop Motion program so I did everything by a very steady hand and some editing
Miniatures
I loved making the backgrounds and I really learned to trust the process. When I look back at it, I’m happy with the backgrounds but if I learned more about Photography such as lightning and depth back then, the miniatures would’ve come more into it’s own.
Nakata’s miniature room
I read a book named Kafka on the Shore.
Nakata is a strange character in the book who travels a lot with just a little luggage. I wanted to show what I imagine his room would look like on his travels.
Process
I feel like this is where I discovered my love and passion for 3D artworks and stop motion. When I saw the pictures from the inside of this miniature room it felt like a life-sized room and to make illusions like this look so real is a new kind of surrealism to me.
